The Gapcheon Water Sports Experience Center, located between the Expo Bridge and Dunsan Bridge, has opened its doors for operation starting from the 5th of April.
Daejeon City announced that the Gapcheon Water Sports Experience Center will operate every day except Mondays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. until October 31st. For customer convenience, the center will extend its hours by an additional hour until 7 p.m. from May to August.
At the center, visitors can enjoy various water leisure activities such as kayaking, pedal boating, standing boats, dinghy yachts, which are small non-powered yachts, and windsurfing. Visitors can take advantage of the free water sports academy education provided by the center to use dinghy yachts and windsurfing.
The usage fees are KRW 5,000 for adults, KRW 4,000 for teenagers and military personnel, and KRW 3,000 for children per hour. The power boat (up to 6 people) is KRW 30,000. For disabled persons and national merit recipients, they can receive a 50% discount by presenting supporting documents.
Visitors can apply for the water sports experience on-site using the unmanned ticketing machine or online (OK Reservation Service). With the help of safety officers, who provide equipment operation methods and safety education, even beginners can easily enjoy water sports.
Daejeon City has placed 7 safety officers with life-saving qualifications at the center to ensure that citizens can enjoy water sports safely. Additionally, the center is equipped with rescue motorboats, water motorcycles, and life jackets in preparation for any safety accidents.
Jeong Jae-yong, director of the Citizen Sports and Health Department in Daejeon City, said, “The surroundings of the Gapcheon Water Sports Experience Center have recently emerged as a beautiful place where water and light come together,” adding, “We hope visitors can create unique memories through water sports experiences.”
