These OBGYN clinics are English-friendly. When I was preparing to give birth, I did a lot of research and decided that a natural birth was the correct option for me. I went to a lot of clinics that provided natural birthing options for check-ups and prenatal care before deciding on the one where I would give birth. Below are some of the places where either I or my friends have had positive experiences. So, if you are looking for a place to have a natural birth, or just an English speaking OBGYN, be sure to check out these clinics!
What is a Natural Birth?

First, allow me to briefly explain what a natural birth is. Normally, there are two major options youโll have when you are pregnant. You can either have a natural birth, or a c-section.
For a c-section (cesarean section), you generally schedule a time and date when your baby will be born. Then, you go to the hospital and they perform surgery to remove the baby. They make a C-shaped incision along the bottom of the motherโs stomach. Then, the child is removed through the incision.
Natural birth is non-surgical. Generally, it is not a scheduled birth and instead, the birthing time is determined by a biological clock and the release of hormones. The child is born through the vaginal canal, so there normally isnโt surgery involved unless there are complications. With natural births there are a lot of different options โ you can choose to go completely natural, have a water birth, receive pain medications, etc.
There are pros and cons to each kind of birth and there are no right or wrong answers. Each mother will have to decide for themselves which option is right for them. South Korea has the second-highest C-section rate in the world after Turkey, so it can be a bit difficult to find natural birthing hospitals especially if you are looking for one that has foreign language services.

Important Notes About Natural Births in Korea

Giving birth in Korea is around 600,000 Won if it is natural birth. However,c-sections can be around 3,000,000 Won. Of course, this is the price with national health insureance. Without insurance, it would be more than double the cost. The difference in price is mainly due to recovery time. Normally those who have a natural birth can go home after only a few hours. Meanwhile, c-sections are surgery and require a few days of hospital recovery. But, for pre-birth appointments, natural birthing clinics are more expensive. So, in total there isnโt much difference when it comes to price.
Personally, I decided on a natural birth because I found the clinics to be a lot more comfortable and accommodating to mothersโ desires.
It is important to note that some hospitals can refuse you if you dont follow the prenatal care guidelines that their hospital provides. So, you need to decide on a hospital or clinic fairly early on in your pregnancy.
Some birthing centers will ask you to find a doula or midwife on your own or use the doula they have partnership with them.
