Implants
Implants are aesthetically very similar to natural teeth.

Normal implants are put in 2 to 3 months after natural tooth extraction. Then, patients need to wait 3 to 5 months for a full recovery. However, there are also same-day implants. At Dr.Kwon Dental Clinic, doctors can extract the natural tooth and put in an implant on the same day, significantly reducing recovery time. But, in order to have same-day implants the mouth must be in good condition. If a patient has inflammation at the root of their tooth, it needs to be treated before same-day implant surgery.
Older adults generally opt for dentures rather than implants. Usually, the decision is made for health or economic reasons. However, it is true that the satisfaction level is lower than that of implants. This is due to various inconveniences experienced while using dentures.
Because dentures are placed across the gums without being embedded in the roots, they have weak chewing power, irritate the gums, and have to be adjusted frequently. Often dentures come loose or are not correctly fitted after some time. Because of this, interest in full dental implants is on the rise.
Periodontal Treatment (Bone and Gum Health)
As mentioned above, bone and gum health is extremely important, especially for those considering getting implants. Gum disease and bone deterioration can cause extreme discomfort and is common to experience as we age. Prevention and treatment of bone and gum disease (periodontal disease) is an essential element of dental health!

Gum disease can easily occur due to bacteria in plaque that naturally builds up on our teeth if teeth are not cleaned properly. Inflammation is caused by a bacterial membrane that is sticky and colorless. If teeth are not properly taken care of, food residue, using the wrong toothbrush, and even breathing out of your mouth too much are conditions that can lead to an overgrowth of bacteria, and thus, gum disease.
Jaw Joint Treatment
Between the joints of your upper and lower jaw, there is a small disc called the Temporomandibular Joint Disc.
The temporomandibular joint disc is very small and softer than the surrounding bones. You can think of it as a pad between your upper and lower jaw, that keeps your bones moving smoothly. This small bone prevents your jaw from wearing down over time, as you talk and eat. Patients can experience joint pain if the Temporomandibular Joint Disc is out of alignment, or is worn down.
Symptoms of developing temporomandibular joint issues include the following:
1. Grinding or clicking sound as you open your mouth or eat.
2.The mouth doesn’t open properly, and/or pain occurs when moving your mouth.
3.You often experience jaw dislocation
4.Frequently experience headaches, dizziness, tiredness, and pain in the muscles of the neck and shoulders.
Overall, issues with this small disc in the jaw can cause a lot of issues. Luckily Dr. Kwon Dental Clinic is home to some of the lead experts in Korea when it comes to solving jaw joint issues.

Wisdom Teeth Extraction

Wisdom teeth removal is one of the most common forms of oral surgery in Korea. They are the last teeth to grow in, at the very back of the oral cavity. Often, there is not enough room in the mouth for wisdom teeth so as they grow in a number of complications can occur.

If wisdom teeth are impacted without causing any additional issues, they can be left alone without treatment. However, if impaction causes infection, inflammation, or affects the surrounding teeth or the health of the oral cavity, they need to be removed. In many cases simply pulling out wisdom teeth is not enough. If they are located too deep, impacted into the mandible bone, or growing at an angle that will damage other teeth, surgery is required.
Cavities and Root Canals
Teeth that become infected with harmful bacteria can decay and die. If teeth are left untreated after becoming infected, it becomes extremely painful as the process unfolds.

If caught in the early stages, a simple filling can be performed to stop the spread of infection. However, if it progresses to the root of the tooth the result is an unbearable pain that needs to be treated by performing a root canal.

Regular checkups and dental scaling can prevent cavities from ever forming. Scaling is an in-depth cleaning of the teeth that normally takes just 30 minutes to 1 hour. It is recommended on a regular basis for patients of all ages.
Orthodontics
Orthodontics has to do with the alignment of the teeth. Proper alignment of the teeth is important for proper function and prevention of wearing down of the teeth over time. If you are considering orthodontic treatment, there are many options, so it is important to choose the one that is best for you.
Whitening & Gum Alteration
Whitening

Over time, the color of teeth can change. We lose our shining white smile with age and wear. Luckily, Dr. Kwon Dental Clinic specializes in brightening teeth without causing damage.
Self-whitening products can cause permanent damage to the teeth’ enamel layer. However, professional whitening products minimize damage through the usage of a combination of chemical lighteners and UV radiation.
Gum Alteration
The appearance of our gums can have a huge impact on our similes. The gum line is revealed when speaking or smiling and is an important factor in completing a beautiful smile along with white and even teeth. If your gums look excessive when you smile, or your gums are uneven, you can have a natural and sophisticated smile through gum alteration (gingival surgery).
Gingival surgery refers to a procedure to reshape the gums using an electric manipulator, laser, or surgical blade. It is performed under mild local anesthesia, within 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the scope of the procedure. It is not very painful but can have a big impact on daily life.
