Are you planning a trip to Seoul but on a tight budget and don’t know where to start? Then make sure to avail of the Discover Seoul Pass. It allows you to visit over 50 popular tourist attractions in Seoul and other cities for free for 24, 48, or 72 hours. Moreover, you can also receive additional discounts for performances, duty free shops, and more even after the pass has expired.
About Discover Seoul Pass
The Discover Seoul Pass was an initiative of the Seoul Tourism Organization and Seoul Metropolitan Government. Its goal is to make sure that visitors in Korea get the full Seoul experience from seeing its most prominent landmarks and tourist attractions with ease and flexibility. This is definitely the best and most efficient way to see the best sights in Seoul, with options of 24, 48, or 72 hours of adventure all with one card! On my second time traveling to Korea, my friends and I used the 48-hour pass and it was really worth every penny.
Where to Use
The Discover Seoul Pass has various functions:
FREE Entrance to Major Tourist Attractions
It gives you free access to over 50 major tourist attractions in Seoul and nearby areas. Examples are 63 Square, Eland Cruise, COEX Aquarium,TrickEye Museum, Korean Folk Village, Gyeongbokgung Palace and other palaces, and many more.

Discounts
Using Discover Seoul Pass, you can get discount benefits on performance shopping and one-day class such as KPOP Experience, Language Exchange, Hanbok Rental, and many more.

Use as a Transportation Card
You can take public transportation more conveniently by purchasing Discover Seoul Pass (Card Pass) that also works as a transportation card (T-money). But you must charge or load it first at nearby convenience store or subway station. Then you can recover any unused balance in cash once your trip to Korea has ended. As a matter of fact, I am still using my Discover Seoul Pass as a T-Money today even after buying it in 2017.

How to Use
Discover Seoul Pass Variants
There are three kinds of Discover Seoul Pass – the 24-hour, 48-hour, and 72-hour pass as a plastic-card-type Pass or a mobile-type Pass. Meaning you can choose the duration of your card usage from 24, 48 or 72 hours. You may also opt to get the physical card pass which works as a T-Money too or just the Mobile Pass which can be used via mobile application and does not require pickup. However, a T-money is not included in the mobile version.
Pass Activation
Regardless of the pass validity, it can be used for 24, 48, or 72 hours. The counting of valid hours stars when you enter the first tourist attraction. Once the pass duration ends, the free admission benefits end as well. For most of the attractions, you just have to present your physical card pass or mobile pass upon entry. Note however that some attractions may require a reservation. Make sure to check the guide of each attraction beforehand online or on the Discover Seoul Pass app.
Pass Validity
If the free admission benefit is not used, you can still use it for up to 5 years from the date of issuance indicated on the back side. But it is better to use the pass immediately after purchase since the range of available attractions and prices are subject to change. While its function as a T-Money has no valid period. You can still use it even after the expiration of free admissions to attractions.
