Are you planning an adventure outside of Seoul? Then consider going to Daejeon, Korea’s fifth largest city. And if you only have a day to visit, you can explore the friendly and lively disctrict of Yuseong (Yuseong-gu). Aside from family and kid-friendly attractions, Yuseong also has the two famous university in the city – KAIST and the Chungnam National University (CNU). Here is a sample itinerary on your day tour in Yuseong.
9:00 AM to 11:00 AM – Start Your Day at Yurim Park

You can start your day at Yurim Park. This botanical garden is open 24 hours but it is best to go there in the morning to have a morning walk or exercise. During the spring and autumn, the park has flower festivals that will definitely captivate you.

Directions
Take the Daejeon Subway and get off at Yuseong Hot Spa Station, Exit 7. From there you can either walk your way to Yurim Park. Or you can also take bus nos. 102 and get off at Home Plus Yuseong Branch or 121 and get off Yuseong-gu Office.
11:00 AM to 12:00 NN – Relax at Yuseong (Hot Spring) Spa
Once your done walking around the Yurim Park, you can relax your feet by realxing at the Yuseong Hot Spring Spa. The admission here is FREE.

Directions
From Yurim Park, you can actually walk your way to Yuseong Spa. Or take bus no. 102 and get off at Oncheongyo Bridge. From there, you will still have to walk for about 4 minutes.
12:00 NN to 2:00 PM – Have a Delightful Buffet Lunch

The good thing about taking a day tour in Yuseong is that you will never run out of good places to at in case you get hungry. From Yuseong Hot Spring Spa, you can see a lot of restaurants and fast food chains all over the area where you can have your lunch. Some of these restaurants are buffet-style. But if you are craving for a western food buffet-style restaurant, the I recommend you to dine in at Ashley located inside the Home Plus in Yuseong.

2:30 PM to 4:30 PM – Visit Hanbat Arboretum

Once you are recharged after having your lunch, you can proceed to Hanbat Arboretum. It is Korea’s largest man-made urban botanical garden. This arboretum serves as a recreational area for people ho wants to relax while appreciating nature in the middle of the city. It is also a learning space for students who want to know more about the ecosystem. The admission here is also FREE.

Directions
By Subway
- Take Daejeon Subway Line 1 and get off at Daejeon station then find your way out to Exit 3.
- Go straight for about 80 meters then turn right at the intersection.
- From the intersection, go straight for 800 meters, then turn right until you reach Peongsong Youth Center.
- From the Youth Center, go straight ahead for 700 meters and reach the entrance of Hanbat Arboretum.
By Bus
- Take bus no.911 and get off at Daejeon Culture & Arts Center Bus Stop.
- You can also take any of the bus nos: 104, 604, 301, 318, 705 or 918 and then get off at Seogu Health Center Bus Stop.
- Another option is to take bus no.606 and then get off at at Hanbat Arboretum Bus Stop.
4:30 PM to Evening – Explore Daejeon Expo Science Park

You can end your day tour in Yuseong at the Daejeon Expo Science Park. The Hanbat Arboretum is actually part of Daejeon Expo Science Park complex. It comprises various facilities that exhibit souvenirs and symbolic objects throughout the years of expo history. It also as an institute that educates the citizens of Daejeon about the city’s traffic culture, and more.

Daejeon Expo Science Park also has the Expo Bridge (엑스포다리) which is a pedestrian bridge that spans the Gapcheon or Gap River. This bridge is one of Daejeon’s city landmarks.
