Daejeon is the fifth largest city in Korea. It also has the largest traditional market in central part of the country – the Jungang Traditional Market. It is just approximately an hour away from Seoul. Thus, if you go to Korea, make time to visit the city of Daejeon. And visiting this city wouldn’t be complete without going to its most famous shopping street – the Daejeon Sky Road.
About Daejeon Sky Road


Daejeon Sky Road (대전스카이로드) is actually the name attributed to the large LED video display structure located at Eunoengjeongi Street in Eunhaeng-dong. This media facility is 214-meter long, 13.3-meter wide and 20-meter high that displays various promotional and informational videos. It is composed of Media Loop, Media Hub, Multi Vision, Top Media Board, Lower Media Board, Multi Vision and After Display. These installations show video content and other information on various topics such as culture, art, and science. While the Media Wall displays information about tourism, convenience facilities, and other events information. The large video display also exhibits variety of media art through partnerships with domestic and international media art artists and video related universities.



The district of Daejeon intends to promote Daejeon Sky Road to revitalize the restoration of the original downtown district of Daejeon and to attract tourists. As a matter of fact, the Eunoengjeongi Street where Daejeon Sky Road was built, originated from a village with ginkgo trees. Currently, Daejeon International Marketing Enterprise (DIME) manages the Daejeon Sky Road. It is the city government’s marketing institution created to invigorate the local economy and enhance the city identity.
What to See in Daejeon Sky Road
Now, Daejeon Sky Road has turned into a shopping and culture street that fascinates many people especially the young ones. It has many shops and restaurants, as well as an underground shopping mall, galleries, and more. etc.

Clothes and Fashionable Items
If you like shopping for clothes, you will never run out of items to buy in this shopping street. There are branded clothes and there are also cheaper ones. You will be surprised to know that you can even snatch fashionable clothes for as low as 3,000 Korean won from the thrift clothing shops there. There are dresses that only cost 5,000 to 10,000 Korean won. Autumn and winter coats are also on sale from 7,000 to 15,000 Korean won depending on the fabric or clothing material. However, most of the thrift shops there only accept cash so make sure to have some cash in our wallet. Moreover, you can also find bags and shoes that are in-style for a very low price.



Accessories and Cute Novelty Items
There are also shops that sell accessories, cute socks, and othernovelty items that you will surely love. This is a perfect place to buy gift for yourself or for your loved ones. Most of the shops accept card except for some thrift shops, and some even accept Onnuri Gift Certificates.



In addition, if you are a Kpop fan, try to check out K-GoodyGood shop which is an official distributor of BT21 items and other goods. They also have beauty products inside the shop.

Amusement Rooms
If you are not into shopping and you just want to have fun, you can visit any of the arcade gaming rooms or sing your heart at karaoke rooms (noraebang).

Restaurant and Coffee Shops
And if you get hungry, you can easily find a place to eat from any of the restaurants located at Daejeon Sky Road. You can have a taste of some authentic Korean food, Japanese food, and cuisine from other countries. There are also a lot of coffee shops and dessert shops that are perfect place to chill and meet your friends. Additionally, you can also watch busking performances at night from local artists who sing, dance and even act on the street.
