If you need a gateway to refresh and reboost your energy, Ganghwado Island can be a great option. This island located an hour from Incheon, has many interesting places to see, but most importantly special cafes. Hence, if you enjoy cafe hopping as much as I do, you should consider visiting, the unique and special cafe Maehwamareum.
Cafe Maehwamareum
Maehwamareum is one of the hidden coffee shops located on the Ganghwado Island. This cafe is some minutes drive from the Island. Once you arrive you will see a simple looking house in the middle of greenery, it is where the coffee shop is set. The building is a wooden structure that blends naturally with the surrounding, with different special indoors in every corner of the coffee shop.
My experience
Maehwamareum doesn’t only have a unique atmosphere, but also one of the best coffee menu I tried in Korea. If you like coffee, I highly recommend you to order the almond cream latte, a very thick, but very delecious drink indeed. The taste is not very sweet which make it great with a piece of bakery or cake. I also tried the red velvet cake, even though it looked devine, it was sadly very dry.
Atmosphere
What I loved about cafe Maehwamareum was the interior and the design of every room. The wood strcuture makes you feel that you are inside a cabin in a forest which gives you a warm and cozy feeling.
In addition, the wood structure helps cooling the coffee shop during the summer time which is perfect to escape from the heat.
