Welcome to Buramsan Mountain, the beautiful yet underrated natural haven in Northern Seoul. It is a beautiful place to visit all year round, with colourful leaves in autumn and snow-capped peaks in winter. However, with the addition of the Buramsan Butterfly Garden, a trip here is one of the greatest healing experiences youโll find close to the bustling capital of Seoul.
Buramsan Mountain
Buramsan Mountain is a great hiking experience for visitors of all abilities. It is approx. 508 metres high and the name โbul-amโ comes from the mountainโs likeness to Buddha, which is referred to as โbul-sangโ in Korean. Furthermore, thrill-seekers are known to frequent Buramsan during winter for ice climbing.
Unlike other mountains, there is also free fitness equipment available, like hula hoops.
Buramsan Butterfly Garden
In many cultures, the butterfly symbolizes resurrection, a renewal of hope and journey towards happiness. If youโre looking for a healing escape from the city, I highly recommend that you visit the Buramsan Butterfly Garden.
As well as the garden itself, there is a 2-story centre with an audiovisual room on the 1st floor and an insect learning hall on the 2nd. Additionally, there is a butterfly greenhouse with a constant temperature for the butterfliesโ health and comfort. The garden features rows of beautiful flowers and hedge sculptures.
Behind the centre, there is a childrenโs forest experience available. To that end, this would be a great place for both families and friends.

Buramsan Mountain Address: Sanggye-dong, Nowon-gu, Seoul Directions: Take bus no. 1124, 1138 or 1139 to Buram Daerim Apartment stop. Turn around and take the first left next to the CU. Continue straight until you reach the main entrance* *Note: there are several other entrances to Buramsan.
