What can be better than brunch with a friend? A brunch near the beautiful Gwangan Bridge in Busan’s Gwangalli Beach! I am talking about Ro:ong brunch. I fell in love with the food they serve and I bet you will fall for it too.
The dishes go from the normal french toast and eggs benedict to risotto and pasta. But, they also serve meat and salmon steak as well as Korean beef tenderloin.
Plus, the ingredient you will find the most on their menu is mushroom. So if you love mushrooms of all kinds, this place is sure to be a hit!
When I went there I ordered the mushroom plate with arugula and ricotta. It. Was. The. Best. Plate. Ever. It was served with two eggs, two pieces of toast, and a roasted lemon to use as dressing. The lemon gave it a sour flavor while enhancing the combination of the ingredients. And the bread? It was so soft it made the perfect combo with the mushrooms, salad, and eggs. Absolutely to die for!
I also tried the shrimp garlic oil pasta. It was accompanied by zucchini and chili peppers. It was a bit spicy yet really tasty. Would not recommend it if you are not into spicy or garlic flavors. Overall it was delicious!
For dessert, they are famous for their crème brulee. The size is a bit small but the taste is worth it. Not too sweet, just perfectly balanced. Although it may appear too small if you fall under its spell. And it costs 5,000 won
The place offers menu sets. The set for one person is 22,000 won, you get to choose any item of the main menu (but pay a bit extra depending on the dish you want), one beverage of your choice and the crème brulee.
For a set of two people it is similar, 42,000 won and it includes two main menu dishes, two beverages and the dessert. Or 34,000 won but instead of the beverages you pay for a wine bottle (extra charge).
For beverages they offer fresh juice of season, or available fruit/vegetable or combination. It is usually apple and carrot juice. The juice they serve is fresh, with no sugar or water added. They also offer ades, tea, coffee, sodas, Cass beer and bottles of wine
Fun fact: the chef had the opportunity to work in San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Sydney, so you can be sure you are in trustworthy hands.
Ro:ong is located across the street from the beach. It is a small place, it has around 5 or 6 tables of two people each. It is allowed to be tables of 3 or 4 people but you have a time limit for your stay.
The place is decorated with pictures of the dishes they offer, cook books, and art pieces. With wooden style furniture, you feel like inside a small and cozy cabin. Although you see all the books and picturesque decor, it has this elegant vibe and is comfortable to eat there.
One of the most unique aspects of Ro:ong is that it sources all of its ingredients locally. They are very transparent about how and from where they purchase their ingredients. The menu frequently changes according to what local farmers are able to produce.
