South Korea is an East Asian Nation that constitutes the southern portion of the Korean Peninsula. Moreover, affected by the East Asian monsoon, South Korea has a temperate climate with four distinct seasons; spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Spring usually starts in March and lasts until May, while Summer begins in June and lasts until August. Autumn, on the other hand, starts in September and ends in November. Lastly, the Winter season lasts from December to February. Every season usually lasts for three months. Also, the changing of the seasons has attracted many tourists from all over the world to travel to South Korea. But, when is the best season and perfect time to visit South Korea?
When is the best season to enjoy South Korea without worrying about the weather?
Four Distinct Seasons of South Korea
Spring usually starts in March and lasts until May. The skies are usually clear, with an average temperature of 15 – 18°C daily. Spring in South Korea is considered the most fascinating and the most beautiful time of the year. Also, the Spring season is most well-known for cherry blossoms. Flowers such as azaleas, chrysanthemums, cherry blossoms, and other spring flowers are in full bloom and can be seen everywhere. These cherry blossoms attract a lot of visitors. It is often seen as the best time to visit South Korea. You can enjoy the spectacular cherry blossoms, however, you can also witness sand storms or yellow dust on some days during this season.
If you’re planning to visit the country in spring, prepare you’re OOTDs and take a lot of beautiful photos of the spring flowers. Of course, you should as well, capture lots of amazing pictures of yourself with the captivating blossoms as your background.
Summer begins in June and lasts until August. The summer season is usually hot and very humid, with a temperature that ranges from 23 – 30°C. Though most parts of the country also experience a temperature that exceeds 30°C. Typhoons, monsoons, and rainy days also occur during this season.
However, even if it is usually hot and humid, there are still plenty of things to do and to experience. You can have fun biking, picnic, and other summer activities in popular parks in Seoul like the Hangang parks, although you can do it in other parks across the country, too. Another is, you can also enjoy South Korea’s striking beach in Busan, the Haeundae Beach. Of course, you might as well, visit Jeju Island, the largest and famous island in South Korea.
Autumn, on the other hand, starts in September and ends in November. After the hot and humid summer, the autumn welcomes us with a refreshing and perfect weather; not too warm and not too cold. It is cool and dry, the skies are clear, making it a perfect day to visit and to enjoy the spectacular fall foliage throughout the country. Tree leaves are changing their colors from green to yellow, gold, orange, and red. We can see this everywhere in Korea, but one of the best and famous fall foliage destinations is in Nami Island. Autumn is such a lovely and charming season. For me, it is the best season and perfect time to visit South Korea. The weather is fine and just perfect. The whole country displays its most beautiful shades of bright orange and red autumn leaves. You can enjoy the mesmerizing foliage in Seoraksan, one of the beautiful and famous mountains in South Korea.
Furthermore, Chuseok, traditional holiday; the Korean harvest celebration, also falls in autumn. During this holiday, they offer free admission fees to some tourist attractions, major palaces, and heritage sites such as the Gyeongbokgung Palace. If you plan to visit South Korea in autumn, do not ever miss to visit those places. It’s not just free but you will certainly have fun.
The Winter season lasts from December to February. During this season, the temperature drops below -20°C. Winter in South Korea is extremely cold. Also, heavy snow usually falls in some parts of the country. Streets, parks, gardens, roads are covered with snow and turned into a wonderful winter land.
Although the winter season is very cold and can be harsh, there are still loads of things to do. Despite the dropping temperatures, you can join and watch festivals, events, and performances. You can also experience snow sports, ice skating, skiing, snowboarding, snowman making, and other winter activities.

For me, out of the four distinct seasons, the best season and perfect time to visit South Korea is during the autumn season. Yes, I prefer and choose autumn. Again, that’s only my opinion, ok?
