I have always loved outdoor activities. Autumn is such a lovely season in Seoul! It’s a great time to get out of the room, breathe some fresh air, and enjoy the pleasant temperature. Living in the city for 4 years, I have explored some great places to visit for outdoor activities lovers. If you are new to the city, this article might help you find some fun activities to do!
Hiking along Seoul Dulle-Gil
If you want to enjoy a one-day hike and explore the city, the Seoul Dulle-Gil is definitely worth a try! The Seoul Dulle-Gil has been open to the public since 2014. It connects Seoul’s outer mountains, rivers, and village roads. There are 8 courses, the total length is 156.5km. The entire route circles around Seoul and goes through historic sites, parks, and some mountains in the city.
I recommend starting at the Seoul Dulle-gil information center and getting a notebook for stamps.
There are 28 places you can get a stamp on your little notebook. The stamp centers are all re-purposed old mailboxes.
Believe me, you will feel so proud of yourself after putting the first stamp in your notebook! Also if you gather all 28 stamps, the center issues a certificate for completing the whole route!
So far I have only finished the first course from 도봉산역 to 화랑대역. The course is 13km long. It’s a good choice to start, there are some hills but not so difficult to finish.
Seoul Dulle-Gil Information Center (서울둘레길 안내센터) Address: 916 Madeul-ro, Dobong 2(i)-dong, Dobong-gu, Seoul Korean address: 서울 도봉구 마들로 916 방문자센터 Operating Hours: Tue - Sun: 09:00 AM - 06:00 PM Closed: Mondays
Naksan City Wall Night View
The Seoul City Wall was first built in 1396 to protect the city from invasions. The wall is 18 kilometers long and located along the ridges of the mountains and old towns. The course I recommend visiting at night is the part located at Naksan. The night view is stunning!
Pick a day with a clear sky, start in the evening from Dongdaemun Station (동대문역), and go up along the hill. As the night comes, don’t be too surprised by the beautiful night view. Some cafes and restaurants are decorated with lights along the way.
The city wall is bright with warm yellow light which gives a peaceful atmosphere.
And of course, the chilly weather in the fall plus the amazing view makes this the place perfect for a date. You will see many cute couples taking a walk and capturing some photos! I just loved it so much with the good energy brought by the view and people there.
If you are looking for a place for your date. Naksan City Wall can be a good choice.
Biking and Jogging Along the Han River
I don’t live near Hangang river, but during autumn I like to rent a public bike and go to the Han river. Most small streams and rivers in the city connect to the Han River. And so, you should check if your local river-side path connects to it too. Biking or jogging along the river is one of my favorite outdoor activities in Seoul. All of your stress just melts away.
There are lots of hills in Seoul so biking in the city is not so easy. Sometimes it can be a little dangerous too. This is because the city is built so compactly that there is no spare space for a biking road. Therefore, I suggest going where the biking road is well-built. Here is a route I always go when biking to the Han river.
Usually, I rent a 따릉이 bike at 응암역. The biking road is built along 불광천 and leads all the way to 망원 Hangang park.
Starting Location: 응암역 네이버 지도
Bike Return Location: 한강공원 망원나들목자전거대여소 네이버 지도
The Hang river flows through the whole city. So it’s actually a great way to get out and explore. If you are feeling ambitious, you can go all the way from Hongdae to Seongsu just along river paths in around two hours.

Beautiful Ginkgo Trees in November
Autumn is my favorite season not only because of the amazing weather but also because I love the color of autumn here. Golden ginkgo and red maple leaves make the best decoration for the city. I recently read a review about this beautiful place, Sung Kyun Kwan Myeongnyundang (성균관 명륜당) that has giant ginkgo trees. It’s a good place for a relaxing walk and taking pretty photos.
To see the best golden ginkgo timing is very important! Make sure to visit in early November!
This place used to be a classroom for Confucian students. Now it’s open for everyone to visit.
