We always tend to think that taking a bus or just a train will always be much cheaper than taking a flight. But, it is not totally correct, especially in this epidemic period. The airport has becomes a place where people avoid going and therefore prices of flight tickets had become extremely cheap. And even cheaper than a normal train ticket.

It is much more faster and convenient and if the expenses are much lower than other kinds of public transportation, then it can be said as the most perfect way for us to travel right? Today, I would like to recommend to you the airlines that are available in South Korea and how to get a ticket at a much cheaper price.
Types of airlines in South Korea
So, airlines actually consist of scheduled airlines and cargo airlines. In South Korea, there are around ten different airlines that you can take. First is Air Busan which its base is located at Gimhae International Airport. Besides, there are also Air Seoul, Asiana Airlines, Easter Jet, Fly Gangwon, Hi Air, Jeju Air, Jin Air, Korean Air, and Tway. You can search for their detailed information online if you are interested in any of them.
How to travel inside South Korea by plane?
So, how can you travel inside South Korea by plane? It is pretty easy actually and you just need to book your ticket a few months before your trip. Be aware of the promotions available in order for you to grab the cheapest ticket. I used to download some applications that provide me information about different airlines so I am able to compare the prices between them and choose the one I want. If you book your ticket extremely early, then the ticket price will be very cheap. But it actually also depends on the airlines as some of them will provide cheaper tickets when the date of departure became nearer but no many people take the flight. Anyway, just make sure you search for enough information before you book anything online.
My personal experience
For my case, I downloaded applications like My real trip, Jeju Air, Fly Cheap, Jin air, and more. And I personally prefer the My real trip the most. It is because it is not like other apps which is a certain airline, but it is like an application that will show you all kinds of tickets available. All you need to do is just key in your date of departure and you can choose if you want a one-way trip ticket or round trip tickets. Then choose the number of persons that wish to buy the tickets and this part is important too. It actually matters because if you wish to take the flight alone, there might be more options as some flights may be just left a seat. Next, choose the types of seats that you wish to have. There are general seats, premium seats, business seats, and first-class seats. As a student, I just choose the general seat as it is the cheapest one. And, besides these, there are actually some other types of seats that I used to see last time when I booked a flight ticket.
General seat
The first one is the general seat. It is a seat where the price is just the same as the normal one and you can refund the ticket and it is free of charge. No penalty will be charged or maybe just a small penalty will be needed. It is the most expensive price among the economy seats.
Discount seat
Next is the discount seat. It is a ticket discounted from the regular price. So it will be cheaper but refunds and changes are subject to conditions and penalties. Some airlines give 100% credit, but others only provide 75% and 50% credit.
Special seat
The third one is the special seat. It is a ticket with a high discount from the regular price. Since it is the cheapest, it is more restricted than other discount seats, and refunds and changes are subject to more conditions than discount seats. Penalties are also higher than discount seats. You can get 25% credit or you don’t get any credit if you refund them last minute. Most of them cannot be upgraded to business seats. They are mostly available only during the sale period. In simple words, it is the cheapest, but with the highest risk, you will take.
Which kinds of flights you should take?
Then, which kinds of seats you should take and which airlines you should take? For me, I personally choose the discount seats and special seats. Their fares from Seoul to Jeju Island are just around 8000 won to 15,000 won. It is very cheap, right? And I personally think that Jeju Air is a great option as they provide a lot of promotions and the expenses needed are lower compared to other airlines. Or you can also try out Tway airline as I think it also provides great services too.
Take note!
But as a foreigner, there are some things that you need to take note of when you booked your tickets. The first thing is the information that you use to book the tickets. If you book your tickets by using your Alien Registration Card, you must put the name registered on your card instead of putting your other name like a Korean name. If you do that, you might face problems when boarding as they will match the ticket name with your identification card. And you might need to pay around 5000won to fix it or buy a new ticket on the spot. It depends on the workers.
