When we think of hot summers, trips or vacations to beaches come to our minds. Since summer in Korea is very hot, I would like to recommend a summer trip to Hongdo Island.
About Hondgo
Hongdo Island is located in the Yellow Sea, 115 km from the southwest coast of Mokpo port, Jeollanam-do, South Korea. It is a place you should visit on your trip to Korea. When the sun sets over the island, the whole area takes on a reddish hue.

Consisting of a steep range of mountains, this island is home to about 710 people. There are 270 varieties of evergreens and 170 species of animals on this island, with an area of about 6.5km. Hongdo Island was designated as a Natural Monument in 1965 and became a part of Dadohae Marine National Park in 1981.

Hongdo Island is a reddish-brown rocky island. In the afterglow of the setting sun, the entire island looks red, so it is called Hongdo Island. There are more than one hundred animals and two hundred kinds of evergreen trees growing on the island. The most distinctive attraction of Red Island is the strange rocks near the sea. Take a double-decker cruise ship to see the surrounding rocks. Thanks to the different weather and time of departure, these rocks show ever-changing forms, which are interesting and mysterious.

Red Island is a very famous island that every Korean yearns for, and hundreds of thousands of tourists come here every year. The entire island is composed of reddish-brown silica rock. Various legends, fantastic rocks, large and small uninhabited islands scattered around cliffs, etc., present an indescribable artistic conception that has experienced vicissitudes of life.
What to expect
A stay for 2 days is required on Hongdo Island to explore and enjoy the beauty of the Island. There are lovely hiking courses that have magnificent views and boat tours with Sashimi(raw fish) prepared on a fishermanโs boat on the sea.
You can find many kinds of fresh seafood, such as Sashimi, and also a spicy fish soup called Haemultang. And also there are two small markets and some people selling sea food on the road. I swear they are the freshest food on earth. You should take advantage of this opportunity to try the fresh and healthy natural foods on the island.
