The Han River or Hangang is a major river in South Korea. It is the fourth longest river on the Korean peninsula. The river comes from the Amnok, Duman, and Nakdong rivers. And it begins as two smaller rivers in the eastern mountains of the Korean peninsula.
Parks around Hangang
There are 13 parks that provide access to the Han river in the entirety of Seoul. I had visited the Ttukseom river park on the very next day when I arrived in Seoul last year in August. I was not able to explore it to the fullest but recently, I got a chance to visit the Hangang Park in Yeouido.
If you go through this article, you’ll get to know how to get there and what to do at the Hangang Park!!
How to get there
The Purple Line Number 5 via the Subway network leads to Yeouinaru. The exit 1 leads straight out to the Hangang Park. Let me tell you, as soon as you get out of the subway out into the park, you’ll feel that ocean breeze hit your face. All the emotions you feel just turn into one and only that of happiness!!
What to do at the park?
There is a huge grass park where all the people can sit down. They can enjoy a little picnic with family, friends and even for a couple. The evening time surely is a romantic hour. The setting sun rays and the evening wind gives you immense pleasure.
There are all kinds of stalls with different street food options. I think this park is a great place to try some Korean street food. People order in or get street food from the stalls or a convenient store.
The other stalls for buying carpets to sit anywhere around the park. There are other stalls for some different kinds of battery powered colored lights of different shapes. You can find these stalls around the river bank.
There is an established artifact there which reads 1 SEOUL U. It is a great photogenic site for tourists and travelers.
You can enjoy the pretty cool vibe around there with an evening walk and have fun.
There is also a different road area dedicated to cycling and skating. This road is filled with people of different ages cycling and enjoying.
There is an immense availability of space all around. All the place can be used by numerous groups of people to hang out and enjoy. You can have a great time with each other. I prefer the evening time to visit the park which can be called as The Golden Hour of photography too! So, there are 2 convenient stores around too. They can be accessed for the things or even food items you may require.
Pet friendly park
People come to the park even with their pets. To have a walk and spend time with their pets and enjoy the evening. Even the pets enjoy the cool breeze coming from the river.
Also, a Lotteria store situated there. Lotteria is one of my favorite burger outlets. Anyone can enjoy a pretty good meal there for a reasonable price. So, with all these things, you surely don’t need to pack your own snack or so.
And to top the evening off, you can enjoy the night landscape with the lights. The lights shine off from the buildings across the river. Their reflections in the river water are amazing to see.
So, I recommend you to pay a visit to this peaceful place and enjoy a good evening time!!
