Do you want to get closer to nature while traveling? Do you also like visiting nature-themed places? It also offers a magnificent view of Daecheong Lake.

About Daecheong Dam
The Daecheong Dam is a multi-purpose dam. They built it on the Geumgang River, which is the longest river in the central part of South Korea. It was named Daecheong Dam because it was built on the boundary of Daejeon and Cheongwon. It is made up of 72 meter-tall and 495 meter-long concrete gravity dam and a rockfill dam. And the Daecheong Lake was developed in 1980 when the Daecheong Dam was completed. Since then, it has been providing drinking water, living water, and industrial water to Daejeon City and Cheongju City. Moreover, it also serves as a power source for its nearby neighborhood cities.

Daecheong Dam Water Culture Center
This Daecheong Dam Water Culture Center is a water-themed cultural museum established on 6 July 2004. It has three exhibition halls which display information about the dam. It also presents the uses of water and environmental features of the area around the Geumgang River. Moreover, it provides information about the cultural aspects of the villages that were submerged by the dam, and about people living on its perimeter. It also has an information center, a theater, and an observatory.

Daecheong Dam Observatory
You can enjoy an awesome view of Daecheong Lake here. There are also benches where you can just sit, take a rest comfortably, and enjoy the beauty of nature ahead of you. Additionally, you can freely walk and have some fresh air in an open area within the damโs floodgate. You can also take photos of yourself with a greeny nature background during summer.

But before reaching the observatory, youโll have to walk a lot. You can choose to take the stairs or a walking path circled by tall trees. Either way, youโll gonna walk for quite a long time.ย

Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water)
Korea Water Resources Corporation is the governmental agency in-charge of comprehensive water resource development. It also provides both public and industrial water across South Korea. Daecheong is just one of the several dams operated by the Korea Water Resources Corporation (K-water). Furthermore, K-water manages the damโs flood control, produces green energy by hydropower generation, and water supply.
