Korea is undeniably a trendsetter when it comes to beauty, music, entertainment, technology, and different aspects of consumer culture. When visiting Korea, one point that caught my eye was how fashionable everyone was! I am not even exaggerating โ most people are always coordinated with pretty hair, makeup, and outfits. It can be hard to keep up with the Joneses, but let me introduce you to Korean fashion trends for Spring 2022!
1. Suits
The latest Korean Fashion trend that I have seen everyone rocking is the suit trend, in beige or gray combined with a simple white or black shirt. As you can see, we are not talking about the strict and formal that we are used to.
There are two main suit-inspired styles I frequently see out on the streets of Seoul. The first is an oversized pantsuit, and the second is a crop-top and skirt combo. The first is a more gender-neutral style. It consists of high-waisted oversized pants and a suit jacket that is quite a few sizes too big. Normally it is paired with either a button-up shirt or a fun printed T-shirt.
As the weather is getting warmer I start to see the second variation a bit more. It consists of a cropped blazer and a high-waisted skirt. Underneath, women normally wear an undershirt, crop top, or a bralette.
2. Leather Jacket
An oversized leather jacket is what everyone is wearing lately. Say goodbye to your nice fitted jacket and say hello to this boyfriend jacket. I myself couldnโt resist the temptation to get one, it makes any outfit look badass.
You can find different types at local stores, or through apps like ABLY. I personally opted to buy one through MUSINSA under a brand called LAFUDGE STORE. It was a bit expensive but the quality is at least guaranteed. They have different designs that are unisex.
3. Tennis skirts
Tennis skirts are back in trend with a twist. I have seen a lot of girls wearing them as parts of matching tweed and suit sets for a more sophisticated look.
However, as you can see, you can pair it with a crop top or a hoodie for a more casual look. I love how in Korean fashion you can mix and match to get different outfit concepts. Overall Korean fashion looks always look edgy.
4. Knit vest
Knit vests are back, especially the black and white design. Koreans like to match vests with oversized white blouses and cropped shirts with unique cut-outs
While you can find these styles being sold all over the streets of Seoul, as a plus-sized person it can be a bit harder to find trendy pieces. But, itโs not impossible! Click Here to learn about 5 Korean plus-size brands.
