Do you scream for ice cream? Is it your favourite guilty pleasure, even after a night out? For those of you that live in Daejeon, you need to visit Dalsi, the 24-hour self-service ice cream shop! It is located in Yuseong-gu, near Jangdae Middle and Elementary school. So, whether it is 3 in the afternoon or 3 in the morning, you can get your frozen treat fix here!
Dalsi
The store is open 24/7. You can come here anytime you want. Whatโs more there is a huge array of ice cream to choose from, including ice cream cones, ice pops, ice cream sandwiches โ even ice cream cake! But what about the flavours? Youโre practically guaranteed to find something in your taste. Whatโs your favourite? Chocolate, cookies and cream, mint choc chip, strawberry, watermelon, coffee, caramel etc.
Melona and Samanco
Have you ever heard of Melona and Samanco ice cream? In South Korea, Melona is a very popular ice pop. However, melon is not the only flavour on offer. The ice pop comes in mango and coconut flavours, and more! Samanco is another beloved ice cream in Korea. However, this one is very special. Itโs a fish-shaped ice cream sandwich filled with vanilla ice cream and red bean filling. Furthermore, like Melona, you can enjoy alternative flavours like chocolate, strawberry and green tea.
If youโre up for making a meal of it, the store also sells cold drinks and microwave meals. Better yet, the prices range from just 500 KRW to 1,300 KRW! If its cold outside and youโve got a sweet tooth for something warmer, you can also buy macaroons and cakes.
Snacks Galore
Aside from ice cream, the store also sells jellies, marshmallows, chips, biscuits, cookies, chocolate bars, and other snacks. I often go there to get ice cream and โPiattosโ, one of my favorite chips from the Philippines.
Visiting the Store
The store is equipped with CCTV as a crime deterrent โ no free ice cream! โ and workers occasionally come to the store to restock. However, most of the time you will find other customers like yourself.
There are small baskets available for you to shop with, like a convenience store. When its time to pay, you can use the standard self-service counters.
This is definitely a nice place to get some ice cream. There are plenty of options and lots of decent treats at a very decent price!

Dalsi Address: 19 Daehak-ro 159beon-gil, Yuseong-gu, Daejeon Operating Hours: 24/7 ! Directions: Take bus no. 108, 501, 511, 512, 513, 514, 620, 30 or 52 to Pyeonhansesang Apartment stop. Walk for 1 min, past Paris Baguette until you reach Dalsi on the corner.
